Louisiana Cajun-Zydeco Festival

New Orleans, LA – The melodic sounds of fiddles, accordions, guitars and more will be coming from Louis Armstrong Park over the weekend of June 14-15 as the Louisiana Cajun-Zydeco Festival moves to a new location in its eighth year. Formerly held on the grounds of the Old U.S. Mint, adjacent to the French Market, the new location gives the festival more room to spread out and accommodate what organizers are calling “a major expansion of our food operations, with a strong emphasis on that most seasonal Louisiana specialty,” shrimp.

And, of course, like all true New Orleans festivals, there will be plenty of music, food (especially our world-famous Cajun cuisine) and exquisite handcrafted items that could only come from centuries of bayou culture. The musical lineup has not yet been finalized but some of the greats of the Cajun and Zydeco genres have already confirmed their intent to perform, including: Buckwheat Zydeco, BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet with special guest Jo-El Sonnier, “Zydeco Sweetheart” Rosie Ledet
Additional performers for the Eighth Annual Louisiana Cajun-Zydeco Festival will be announced as the date gets closer. For updates on performers, stages and performance times visit www.jazzandheritage.org/cajun-zydeco.

The festival will be open from 11:00 a.m.-7:30 p.m. on both days and admission is free. Louis Armstrong Park is located in the 900 block of North Rampart Street, between St. Peter and St. Philip streets, opposite the French Quarter
