Experience the thrill of main line speed 7 & 21 June behind a NYMR engine with services to Battersby on the 7th & 21st June, a perfect chance to travel on-board both the heritage line through the North York Moors, and the Esk Valley Line calling at Battersby, Danby, Glaisdale, Grosmont and Whitby Stations. These trains commemorate the withdrawal of trains between Whitby and Stockton and the line closure between west of Battersby through Stokesley 60 years ago, the services are scheduled to be worked by the B1 wearing the identity of the loco that headed the last train (61034 Chiru). As the only heritage railway in the country who can offer a unique combination of services on both the heritage and main line, (normally only available during our Galas), passengers are able to travel to Battersby along the main line network, at speeds of up to 45mph, and also travel on the NYMR line through the North York Moors National Park.
