The Modern Parisian Woman of 1900

blogpic_round_logo_75Madrid – Today you can visit the room 33 of the permanent collection, a new thematic assembly that comprises nine works by artists such as Degas, Picasso, Toulouse-Lautrec or Modigliani on the image of women in painting around 1900. The artists of that era witnessed the rapid transformation of the role of women in society and became chroniclers of the process of female emancipation. In his paintings represent the entire social spectrum: from the elegant ladies of the gentry, fashionably dressed, walking the streets or shopping in Paris, women of the working class or environments bohemian cafes and theaters.
