With full steam to the top… June – October

Slowly but surely the nostalgic steam train puffs and pounds its way up the mountain, climbing a total of 1680 metres.  The trip up the Brienzer Rothorn takes around one hour from Brienz, travelling through meadows and forest and passing rugged rock walls. Observant passengers will spot a host of fascinating sights along the way including brightly-coloured Alpine flora, grazing cows with tinkling cowbells and perhaps even a nimble chamois or majestic ibex.
