Irina Kolesnikova stars in the world premiere of Her Name Was Carmen – a new full length ballet set to Bizet’s timeless score.
London – Following last year’s sell-out season, world’s leading ballerina Irina Kolesnikova returns to the London Coliseum with a new take on an old classic, Her Name Was Carmen. After her family is brutally murdered, Carmen finds shelter in a refugee camp on the outskirts of Europe… here she becomes entangled in a love triangle with tragic consequences… Fiery, rich and beautiful, Carmen is a deadly cocktail of passion and tragedy. Set to the much-loved score by Georges Bizet played live by ENO orchestra, Her Name Was Carmen is a new full length ballet brought to life by 50 dancers from the critically acclaimed St Petersburg Ballet Theatre and played live by the orchestra of English National Opera. Limited to only 4 performances – August 23, 25 and 27 August at 7.30pm and 28 August 2016 at 3pm . Tickets from £25.
